A body has been discovered in the search for an Ayrshire man who went missing three weeks ago.
Corry Ferguson, 26, was last seen inside a Spar shop on Saltcoat’s Wheatley Road, at around 9.35am on Tuesday, March 1.
Police confirmed that a body had been discovered on the beach at Irvine Beach Park, at around 6.45am on Friday.
Officers said they were working to establish the identity of the body but that Mr Ferguson’s family had been informed.
After his disappearance, his family said they were “crying out for help”.
A police spokesperson said: “Around 6.45am on Friday, 18 March, 2022, the body of a man was found on the beach at Irvine Beach Park.
“Formal identification has yet to take place but the family of Corry Ferguson (26), who has been missing from the Saltcoats area since Tuesday, March 1, have been informed.
“Enquiries into the death are at an early stage.
“It is currently being treated as unexplained but there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.”
