Detectives will return to a nightclub where a man was attacked about 12 hours before he was found dead.

Robert Fleming's body was discovered at his home in Lammermuir Road in Kilmarnock, East Ayrshire, on Sunday afternoon after he was at Baker's nightclub on John Finnie Street.

The 21-year-old was involved in an incident outside the club between 12.30am and 1am on Sunday and then made his way home.

His body was found more than 12 hours later and police are now scouring CCTV images and appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Officers will be on John Finnie Street between 11pm and 3am on Sunday, speaking to people on nights out and passing motorists in a bid to glean more information about the altercation which occurred before Mr Fleming’s death and to speak to any potential witnesses.

Detective chief inspector Allan Burton, from Police Scotland’s major investigations team, said: "A young man has lost his life and it is of the utmost importance that we establish exactly what happened and get answers for Robert’s family.

"Officers have viewed the CCTV and it is critical we identify the people who were outside Bakers during this incident.

"To do this we need to speak to anyone who was at this location last Saturday night to assess if they have information that could assist with our investigation.

"It is critical that we speak to absolutely everyone to ensure that we have the full picture of the circumstances so if you are planning to be out again this weekend, please come and speak to us or any officer who will be in the area.

"Anyone with any information or knowledge is asked to contact Kilmarnock Police Office on 101."
