A man knocked down with his six-year-old son in a hit-and-run remains in intensive care a week after the crash.

Ryan McLean, 31, and his son Logan were struck by a private hire taxi outside a social club in South Lanarkshire in the early hours of Sunday January 31.

It is understood they were hit outside Glencairn Social Club in Rutherglen after leaving a family wedding reception at around 12.15am.

Logan was released from hospital last week but his father remains in intensive care as he fights for life at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

Staff described the Mr McLean's injuries as life-threatening after the crash.

The Volkswagen Golf private hire taxi failed to stop after the crash on Glasgow Road but the driver was traced a short time later. No one has been arrested or charged in connection with the incident.

Sergeant Craig McDonald from the Divisional Road Policing Unit at Motherwell said: "Inquiries are at an early stage to establish the exact circumstances of this incident and we want to speak to anyone who may have witnessed what happened."
