The body of a man has been pulled from the water at a popular Scottish seaside.
Coastguard and lifeboat crews, including a helicopter, were dispatched to search for the man at Portobello Beach in Edinburgh in the early hours of Sunday morning after reports of a person in the Firth of Forth.
He is believed to have been retrieved from the water a short time later, but was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man is yet to be identified, but police say an investigation is under way.
There is not thought to be any suspicious circumstances.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 2.15am on Sunday, October 29, police were called to a report of a man in the water near to Esplanade Terrace, Portobello.
“Enquiries are ongoing to identify him.
“There would not appear to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a report will be forwarded to the Procurator Fiscal.”
