The black bear likely wandered into the neighbourhood looking for food before he went up a tree
A black bear that had wandered onto a residential street in New York, was successfully tranquilised and rescued from a tree on Tuesday.
Black bears tend to avoid humans but can be dangerous, so local officials were called to the street in Albany to take him back to his natural habitat.
The bear had likely wandered into the neighbourhood in search of food, but climbed a tree when it became nervous of its surroundings.
Wildlife and law enforcement officials came to rescue the bear after it had been up in the branches for around four hours, and they successfully caught it in a net stretched beneath the tree.
The bear will now be released back into the wild.
