The American fugitive Nicholas Rossi has been arrested on suspicion of rape in England.
The 36-year old was taken from prison in Edinburgh this morning to be questioned by Essex Police in connection with a rape allegation in Chelmsford from 2017.
An extradition order to return Nicholas Rossi to the United States was approved by the Scottish Government last month.
A spokesperson for Essex Police said: “Officers investigating a non-recent allegation of rape in Chelmsford, which was made to us in April 2022, have arrested 36-year-old a man.
“After liaising with the appropriate authorities, Essex Police officers arrested the man on suspicion of rape this morning, Wednesday, October 11.
“He remains in custody for questioning.”
