Police looking into lines of enquiry related to convicted paedophile headteacher Neil Foden have confirmed that two men were arrested earlier this year.

North Wales Police said both men remain under investigation.

It added the arrests followed allegations of “non-recent abuse” by “conducting inappropriate relationships”.

A spokesperson said: “We are working closely with partners to ensure we prioritise the safeguarding of anyone vulnerable while our investigations are ongoing.”

ITV News understands both men remain on bail.

The police force said due to this being an active investigation, it was “unable to comment further”.

“We continue to urge members of the public to come forward with information and can give assurance that such disclosures will be taken seriously and progressed,” it added.

It comes as victims of Neil Foden wait for the publication of the Child Practice Review.

The release of the year-long inquiry into how Foden was able to go undetected and sexually abuse girls in North Wales was postponed suddenly last month.

Foden, the former headteacher of Ysgol Friars in Bangor, is serving 17 years in jail for 19 offences relating to four victims, including 12 counts of sexual activity with a child.

Despite being reprimanded by the teaching regulator in Wales over bullying allegations in 2020, a year later he was given more responsibility as a “strategic super-head”.

During his sentencing, the judge said he had shown himself to be “arrogant” with a “controlling personality” and an “individual used to getting his own way”.

The judge had also criticised Gwynedd council (Cyngor Gwynedd) for failing to investigate concerns about Neil Foden meeting girls alone as far back as 2019.

When contacted by ITV News about the arrests of two further individuals, a spokesperson on behalf of Cyngor Gwynedd and Ysgol Friars said it would not be appropriate to comment.

No new date has been provided for the publication of the delayed Child Practice Review, overseen by social care expert Jan Pickles.

The council previously said it was ready to “act upon any conclusions and recommendations without delay”.
