A shooting in a New York bar has left three people dead and eight people hospitalised, police have said.
New York City Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch told a press conference that the shooting happened in a crowded nightclub called Taste of the City in Brooklyn.
Investigators believe a shooter or shooters opened fire with multiple weapons just before 3.30am local time.
“Officers arrived within minutes of the first calls and found numerous gunshot victims inside,” she said.

Three men, including a 27-year-old and a 35-year-old, were killed in the incident. A further five men and three women were injured and remain in hospital.
The wounded range in age from 27 to 61, and none are believed to have life-threatening injuries.
A manhunt for the perpetrators is ongoing, and officers have recovered a firearm which they have yet to link to the incident, Tisch added.
“It’s a terrible thing that happened this morning, but we’re going to investigate and get to the bottom of what went down,” she said.
The shooting comes amid a record low year for gun violence in New York City
“I mean, we have the lowest numbers of shooting incidents and shooting victims seven months into the year that we’ve seen on record in the city of New York,” Tisch said.
