Sainsbury’s are removing all disposable barbecues from sale “until further notice” due to fire risk.
The supermarket announced the decision on Thursday.
It follows Marks and Spencer, Aldi and Waitrose who have already stopped selling them.
In a statement, Sainsbury’s explained it had taken the measure because of the hot and dry weather across the UK.
There have been warnings by fire and rescue workers over the risk of wildfires due to the high temperatures.
“As a precautionary measure we are removing from sale all disposable barbecues until further notice,” Sainsbury’s said.
“Safety is our highest priority and we have made this decision due to the hot and dry weather that we are currently experiencing across the country.”
