The Duke of Sussex left the royal residence 54 minutes after arriving, as ITV News Royal Editor Chris Ship reports
Prince Harry has met his father, King Charles, for a private tea at Clarence House in London, ITV News understands.
Speculation had been growing over whether the estranged pair would meet after an apparent breakdown in their relationship and several public statements made in interviews by the prince.
Rumours had been fuelled in part by a recent meeting between both the King and Harry’s staff, leading to many media outlets speculating a ‘peace summit’ may be on the cards.
Wednesday’s meeting marks the first time the father and son had met in 19 months.
Prince Harry arrived at Clarence House at around 5.20pm on Wednesday, where the King had been attending an investiture ceremony earlier in the day.
The Duke of Sussex left the royal residence at 6.14pm, 54 minutes after arriving.
Harry was driven out in a black car and is expected to attend an Invictus Games event in London later on Wednesday evening.
Prince Harry’s trip to the UK marked his first home visit since his failed court case against the Home Office over the downgrading of his UK security protection.
The last time the pair saw each other was a brief meeting following the King’s cancer diagnosis last year.
The Duke of Sussex’s current visit was ostensibly to attend an awards ceremony for the WellChild charity, of which he is Patron, on Monday.
Harry has attended the awards every year since his departure from the Royal Family, and this year the event fell on Accession Day – the anniversary of the death of his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth.
The prince also made headlines on this trip with a sizable personal donation of £1.1 million to Children in Need.

The King had arrived back in London from Aberdeenshire earlier on Wednesday, but is due to return to Balmoral Castle again on Thursday.
Charles had earlier carried out a series of official duties, beginning with a Privy Council at St James’s Palace.
He also held a one-to-one investiture with Holocaust survivor Manfred Goldberg, who has awarded an OBE for services to Holocaust remembrance and education.
Later this evening, the King held an audience with the Premier of South Australia Peter Malinauskas.
No further details have been released about Harry’s private tea with his father.
