President Trump says any 'credible' Epstein files should be released

The US President said described the Epstein case as 'pretty boring' as he spoke to reporters on Tuesday adding that 'credible information has been given'.

President Donald Trump has called for the release of any “credible” records in Jeffrey Epstein’s sex trafficking investigation by his attorney general.

Trump has been seeking to tamp down criticism of his Attorney General Pam Bondi amid calls for her resignation surrounding the administration’s decision not to release more records related to Epstein.

And now the President has added fuel to the fire by downplaying the issue. “I don’t understand what the interest or what the fascination is,” Trump told reporters on Tuesday.

Last week, the Justice Department and the FBI suddenly U-turned on the notion that the disgraced financier kept a client list.

The list was said to contain the details of societal elites who participated in Epstein’s trafficking of underage girls.

But the Justice Department has since acknowledged Epstein did not maintain a “client list,” adding that no more files related to the case of Epstein would be released.

Reaction online came quickly with Trump’s own followers calling him “out of touch” and demanding transparency.

Trump’s comments to reporters on Tuesday were just the latest in a days-long campaign to calm the noise surrounding the Epstein issue.

He called the case “pretty boring” and said “the credible information has been given.”

“I don’t understand why the Jeffrey Epstein case would be of interest to anybody,” he said.

Asked whether his Bondi had told him his name was in the Epstein files, Trump said no.

He praised her handling of the case and said she should release “whatever she thinks is credible.”

He also claimed there were credibility issues with the documents, suggesting, without citing evidence, that they were “made up” by former FBI Director James Comey and former Presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden.

Back in February, Bondi had suggested such a document existed and was sitting on her desk waiting for review.

She later said she was referring to the Epstein case file in general and not a specific client list.
