A Premier League footballer arrested over two alleged rapes has had his bail extended until early next year.
The player, who has not been named, is at the centre of an investigation into two incidents alleged to have taken place in April and June 2021 after an arrest regarding a matter in June of this year.
Both are alleged to have taken place in London and involved different women.
The player, said to be an international, has represented his club this season. The Guardian reported the club is aware of the allegations.
The Metropolitan Police’s latest extension of the player’s bail, which had been due to expire at the end of this month, means he will now remain free until mid-January.
He was originally arrested in July and bailed until early October, extended from an initial date in August, before an application to continue his bail until late November was accepted.
