Footage released by local media shows the bus lying on its side in a steep ravine.
A British man has died and 27 others have been injured after a bus carrying British holidaymakers crashed in the Canary Island of La Gomera, ITV News understands.
Emergency services confirmed the death of the man. One person has been critically injured and flown to a hospital on the nearby island of Tenerife for treatment.
One other person has also been transferred to Tenerife, while the rest of the injured have been taken to a hospital on La Gomera.
The bus appears to have come off the road at a hairpin bend, ending up lying on its side in a ravine.
They said the bus was carrying 28 people, 27 of whom were British tourists, and the other person was the bus driver.
President of La Gomera’s Council Casimiro Curbelo said the situation was being closely monitored.

He wrote on social media: “I thank the rapid and coordinated response of the personnel involved in the operation”.
“Regrettably, the death of one of the occupants has occurred, and we are closely following the progress of the 27 injured individuals who are receiving medical attention at this time.”
Local authorities have declared a state of alert due to the incident, which occurred at roughly 1:20 pm. A helicopter ambulance, five ambulances, and a medical team have been deployed to the scene.
La Gomera is the second smallest of the eight major Spanish Canary Islands. It is a ferry ride away from Tenerife, and often a day-trip destination for tourists visiting the islands.
