One Battle After Another leads Golden Globe 2026 nominations

The nominations for the 86th Golden Globes have been announced, with Adolescence, One Battle After Another and Sinners all gaining multiple nods.

One Battle After Another, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, has topped the Golden Globe nominations with nine nominations, adding to the Oscar favourite’s momentum and handing Warner Bros a victory amid its deal to be acquired by Netflix.

Close on its heels was Joachim Trier’s Sentimental Value, a Norwegian family drama about a filmmaking family. The film’s eight nominations included nods for four of its actors: Stellan Skarsgård, Renate Reinsve, Elle Fanning and Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas.

One Battle After Another received nominations for its cast — Leonardo DiCaprio, Teyana Taylor, Sean Penn and Chase Infiniti — as well as nods for Anderson’s screenplay and direction. It is competing in the Globes’ category for comedy and musicals.

Adolescence’s nominations include best limited series, anthology series or television motion picture, best male actor in a television limited series, anthology series, TV motion picture for Stephen Graham, and Ashley Walters and Owen Cooper for best TV supporting actor.

A new podcast category was added this year, with nominees featuring a mixture of news, advice and celebrity interview programmes. The nominees were chosen from the list of 25 most-listened-to podcasts, determined by data from podcast platforms like Apple and Spotify, which were announced in October.

They include Armchair Expert With Dax Shepard, Call Her Daddy, Good Hang With Amy Poehler, SmartLess and The Joe Rogan Experience.

The nominees for the 2026 ceremony were announced by actors Marlan Wayans and Skye P Marshall.

After a series of controversies, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, the group that previously put on the ceremony, the Globes were sold in 2023 to Todd Boehly’s Eldridge Industries and Dick Clark Productions, a part of Penske Media.

A new, larger voting body of more than 300 people now votes on the awards, which moved from NBC to CBS on a shorter, less expensive deal.
