McDonald’s has confirmed that the popular McRib will be returning to UK menus this October.

Fast food lovers will be able to get their hands on the barbecue-flavoured pork sandwich for the first time in almost a decade on October 16.

The iconic item, which was first introduced in 1981, last appeared on the menu between December 31, 2014 and February 3, 2015.

Rumours of the sandwich’s much-awaited return to the menu were sparked after a test notification seemingly disguised as a glitch on the McDonald’s app was sent to customers in September, teasing the McRib’s return.

A McDonald’s spokesperson said: “You guessed it – the rumours are true, the McRib is back! On October 16, the McRib is returning after almost ten years.

“With nearly a decade of anticipation, fan petitions and countless social media pleas, the legendary McRib returns to McDonald’s UK&I menus.”
