A knifeman was seen twice at a barbershop in Peterborough just hours before a mass stabbing on a high-speed train.

Pictures obtained by the Daily Mail appear to show the man frantically waving a huge knife as terrified customers run to the back of the barbershop.

Police are investigating three knife-related incidents in connection with the Huntingdon train attack on Saturday, including the stabbing of a 14-year-old boy and two reports of a knifeman seen at a barbers in Peterborough.

Cambridgeshire police said a man with a knife was seen at a barbers in Fletton on Friday at 7.10pm, although this was only reported to the force two hours later.

A second report of a knifeman was made at 9.25am on Saturday morning, when he was still at the scene, but when police arrived 18 minutes later, they could not locate him.

This is being investigated as part of the police probe into the mass stabbing on a high-speed train in Huntingdon, officers say.

Several people were stabbed on an LNER train from Doncaster to London on Saturday.

An LNER staff member is in a critical but stable condition in hospital following the stabbings, while eight others remain in hospital, Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood told MPs on Monday.

The investigation by British Transport Police into the train attack will include the two reports of a knifeman at a barbers in Peterborough, and the stabbing of a 14-year-old in Peterborough.

The teenager was non-fatally injured at 7.10pm on Friday.

A man charged over the train stabbings, and a separate attack at a London station earlier that day, has been remanded in custody.

Anthony Williams, 32, was charged with ten counts of attempted murder, one count of actual bodily harm, and one count of possessing a bladed article.

Williams also faces an additional charge of attempted murder and possession of a bladed article in relation to an incident at Pontoon Dock DLR station in east London.

Police say it happened in the early hours of Saturday, when a victim suffered injuries after being attacked with a knife.
