US President Joe Biden has said that the “world is better” because of the Queen.
Speaking at Lancaster House, Biden expressed his condolences to the British people.
Biden earlier paid his respects to the late monarch, who is lying in state at Westminster Hall.
They were joined by the US ambassador to the UK, Jane Hartley.
The US President will be among world leaders in attendance at the Queen’s funeral on Monday.
Air Force One touched down at Stansted Airport just before 10pm on Saturday evening.
Accompanied by First Lady Jill Biden, the US President signed a book of condolence for the late monarch.
“To all the people of England, all the people of the United Kingdom, our hearts go out to you,” said Biden at Lancaster House.
“You were fortunate to have had her for 70 years, we all were. The world is better for her.”
A meeting is due to take place between Biden and Prime Minister Liz Truss.
