The YouTuber, Jake Paul, has had surgery after he suffered a ‘double broken jaw’ during a boxing match with former two-time heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua, in Miami.
Critics had called the fight a dangerous publicity stunt, which left Paul requiring surgery on his jaw.
Posting on his social media, Jake Paul told his followers that the surgery “went well,” and that he had “2 titanium plates” fitted on each side as well as some teeth removed.
During the match, Joshua proved why he is one of the sport’s elite punchers when he dropped Paul twice in the fifth round before finally securing a knockout in round six.
The two-time heavyweight champion had been struggling to land a meaningful punch as Paul proved elusive in the early rounds.
“It took a little bit longer than expected, but the right hand finally found its destination,” Joshua said after the match.
“He got up time and time again. I give Jake the respect for trying and trying.
“He came up against a real fighter tonight.”
Paul barely landed a shot but showed commendable heart to last as long as he did once Joshua’s barrage began.
The 28-year-old YouTuber turned boxer only began his career in 2020.
Paul revealed after the match that he thought he had broken his jaw, as he spat out a mouthful of blood during a post-fight interview.
“I gave it my all… I had a blast,” Paul said.
“Anthony’s a great fighter.
“I think my jaw is broke by the way… it’s definitely broke.
“We’re going to heal the broken jaw, fight someone my weight and go for the cruiserweight world title.”
