More prison sentences were handed out to those involved in the riots that followed the Southport stabbings. Two 12-year-old boys were among those who appeared in court today
More than 1,000 people have now been arrested in connection with riots sparked by the fatal stabbing of three young girls in Southport.
It comes as a number of jail sentences and community orders have been handed to individuals involved in the disorder, which spread across the United Kingdom.
The move follows Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer’s repeated warnings that those involved in disorder will “feel the full force of the law”.
Here, ITV News collates a list of sentenced and convicted individuals involved in the riots.
Jordan Parlour, 28
In what is thought to be the first case of its kind related to the riots, the 28-year-old was jailed for encouraging Facebook users to attack a hotel housing asylum seekers.
He was sentenced to 20 months at Leeds Crown Court, over a post about the Britannia Hotel, in the Seacroft area of the city, which was home to 210 refugees and asylum seekers.
The court heard he wrote on Facebook: “Every man and their dog should be smashing f*** out Britannia Hotel.”
Rosemary Ainslie, acting head of the CPS special crime and counter terrorism division, said: “Let me be absolutely clear, people who think they can hide behind their keyboards and stir up racial hatred should think again.”
He appeared to blow a raspberry as he was led from the court.
Richard Williams, 34
A man who encouraged people on social media to start a riot has become the first person from Wales to be convicted and jailed amid the recent unrest across the UK.
Richard Williams, 34, posted about taking part in a riot and shared a derogatory meme about migrants in a local Facebook group dedicated to protests, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said.
Williams, of Buckley, Flintshire, was sentenced to three months in prison at Mold Magistrates’ Court on Friday after he pleaded guilty to one count of sending menacing messages via a public communication network.
He had been arrested on Wednesday after police officers identified him as the social media user behind the online activity and was charged by the CPS within 24 hours.
Kenzie Roughley, 18,
Roughley has been sentenced to two years and four months in a young offenders’ institution. after rocking a police van with an officer inside during riots.
Footage of the van being rocked from side to side, with its rooftop mast swinging, was widely shared on social media during the trouble at a Holiday Inn Express hotel housing more than 200 asylum seekers.
In a video played at Sheffield Crown Court, the defendant could be seen kicking and trying to break into the vehicle.
James Nelson, 18
The teenager, who smashed police cars during disorder in Bolton, pleaded guilty on Tuesday to causing criminal damage on Sunday, Greater Manchester Police said.
James Nelson, of Victoria Road, Horwich, was sentenced to two months’ imprisonment at Manchester Magistrates’ Court.
Liam Powell, 28
Another man involved in the Bolton unrest, 28-year-old Liam Powell, was handed a 12-month community order, which will be in place until August 2025.
Police said he admitted being in possession of cocaine during the disorder.
Derek Drummond, 58
Liverpool Crown Court sentenced Derek Drummond, 58, to three years in prison.
Drummond of Pool Street, Southport, admitted violent disorder and assaulting an emergency worker in Southport on July 30.
Declan Geiran, 29
Declan Geiran, of Kelso Road, Liverpool, was sentenced to 30 months in prison after he pleaded guilty to violent disorder in Liverpool on August 3 and sending a malicious communication last year.
Liam Riley, 40
From the same disorder in Liverpool on August 3, Liam Riley of Walton Road, Liverpool, admitted to violent disorder and racially aggravated behaviour.
He was sentenced to 20 months in prison.
Aaron Johnson, 32
Johnson, of Criterion Street, North Reddish, admitted using racist language on a live stream he broadcast to “millions of people” from outside a hotel in Stockport thought to contain asylum seekers.
Lucas Ormond Skeaping, 29
Lucas Ormond Skeaping, of Tavistock, Devon, admitted a charge of violent disorder for pushing a 17-year-old boy off his bike during unrest in Plymouth on Monday night.
Plymouth Magistrates’ Court heard Ormond Skeaping had been wearing a GoPro camera at the time, which later showed him “throwing a full bottle of coke and a rock” towards protesters.
He has been jailed for 18 months.
Michael Williams, 51
Williams of Sparkwell, Devon, pleaded guilty to a charge of violent disorder relating to protests in Plymouth on Monday night.
Plymouth Magistrates’ Court heard there were bottles and rocks being thrown between two groups before fighting broke out, with Williams seen kicking another man – he has been jailed for 32 months.
Daniel McGuire, 45
McGuire, of Crescent Avenue, Plymouth, pleaded guilty to a charge of violent disorder relating to a protest in Plymouth on Monday night.
The 45-year-old who spat at police and threatened to punch an officer was jailed for 26 months.
Liam Ryan, 28
Ryan, of Thirkleby Royd, Bradford, pleaded guilty at Manchester Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday morning to violent disorder after the prosecution said he played an “active role in the disorder”.
Leanne Hodgson, 43
Hodgson, of Holborn Road, Sunderland pleaded guilty to violent disorder after being seen on footage pushing a large bin towards a police line during unrest in Sunderland.
Josh Kellett, 29
Kellet, of Southcroft, Washington, admitted violent disorder after unrest in Sunderland on Friday.
The court heard he was seen on footage throwing a stone towards police officers while part of a large group.
Andrew Smith, 41
Smith, of High Street East, Sunderland, pleaded guilty to violent disorder following unrest in Sunderland.
Bradley Makin, 21
Makin admitted to violent disorder in Sunderland, as well as possession of cocaine and heroin, Northumbria Police said.
William Nelson Morgan, 69
Morgan of Linton Street, Walton, has been sentenced to 32 months in prison. He pleaded guilty at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court to violent disorder and possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.
John O’Malley, 43
O’Malley of Cambridge Gardens in Southport has also been sentenced to 32 months in prison, after pleading guilty at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court to violent disorder during unrest in Southport.
Ryan Sheers, 28
Sheers, of Powlett Road, Hartlepool, pleaded guilty to a charge of violent disorder. He was sentenced to two years and two months’ imprisonment at Teesside Crown Court.
Steven Mailen, 54
Mailen of Arch Court, Hartlepool, also pleaded guilty to a charge of violent disorder and was sentenced to two years and two months’ imprisonment at the same court.
Adam Wharton, 28
Two brothers who looted a library community hub set ablaze by rioters have been jailed at Liverpool Crown Court.
Adam Wharton was sentenced to 20 months in jail for burglary with intent to steal.
Ellis Wharton, 22
Ellis Wharton received an eight-month jail term for the burglary and a consecutive three-month sentence for assault against a police officer who attempted to confront his younger brother.
Bobby Shirbon, 18
Bobby Shirbon was detained for 20 months after joining riots in Hartlepool while out celebrating his 18th birthday.
He pleaded guilty to violent disorder after he was seen smashing windows and throwing bricks and bottles at police.
Kieron Gatenby, 19
Kieron Gatenby was caught on CCTV throwing a missile towards police officers in Hartlepool.
After pleading guilty to violent disorder, he was sentenced to 16 months.
Carl Holliday, 30
Carl Holliday, from Hartlepool, was caught hurling large pieces of metal shelving at police officers holding shields. Officers were providing a protective cordon.
The 30-year-old was caught on a seven-minute video throwing the item four times – once directly towards the police line. He has been sentenced to two years and eight months for using or threatening unlawful violence.
Billy Thompson, 31
Billy Thompson, from Maryport, has been jailed for 12 weeks after posting racially aggravated and offensive online content to social media.
Cumbria Police arrested the 31-year-old on Wednesday, he was charged and appeared in court on Thursday.
Philip Hoban, 48
Hoban, of Northcote Crescent, Leeds, pleaded guilty at Leeds Magistrates Court for causing racially, religiously aggravated harassment, alarm or distress through words during the disorder in Leeds.
Sameer Ali, 21
Ali, of West Park Drive in Leeds pleaded guilty to affray after Leeds Crown Court was shown CCTV footage of a group of men kicking and punching a smaller group of four men.
He has been jailed for 20 months.
Adnan Ghafoor, 31
Ghafoor of Spen Bank in Leeds was sent to prison for 18 months, after also pleading guilty to affray in the same incident.
He was also ordered to serve an additional 12 months for breaching of an unrelated suspended sentence.
Ozzie Cush, 20
Cush, of Reading, hit a Met Police officer with his foot during a demonstration near Trafalgar Square on July 31.
He was sentenced to 46 weeks’ detention in a young offenders’ institution at Inner London Crown Court.
Stacey Vint, 34
Stacey Vint was sentenced for her part in the riots in Middlesbrough town centre on Sunday.
A court heard she was part of a group who set alight a wheelie bin then pushed it into a police cordon. In the process of doing so, Vint fell to the ground and was arrested.
Ryan Wheatley, 40
A 40-year-old grandfather wearing an England flag who ran straight at a police officer at a protest “like a rhino” has been jailed.
Ryan Wheatley, of Hampshire, admitted running into Sergeant Rob Perry at the demonstration in Southampton on August 7.
He has been sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment, half to be spent in custody and the rest on licence with a further 12 months’ post-sentence supervision.
Guy Sullivan, 43
A man who grabbed a police officer’s baton and ran off with it during disorder in Plymouth has been jailed for three years.
Guy Sullivan, 43, admitted a charge of violent disorder relating to the incident during protests in the Devon city on August 5.
Cole Stewart, 18
A teenager who shouted “I’m a child” after being captured on video hurling rocks at police and apparently celebrating during disorder in Darlington has been detained.
Cole Stewart, from Darlington, was sentenced to 18 months in a young offenders’ institution when he appeared at Teesside Crown Court on Monday (August 12).
James Aspin, 34
Aspin, 34, of Blyth, pleaded guilty for one count of distributing a recording to stir religious hatred.
Police were made aware of content posted by Aspin last Friday gaining traction across TikTok – making hateful and threatening comments.
He was remanded in custody to appear at Newcastle Crown Court on 19 August for sentencing.
Drew Jarvis, 19
Father-of-one Drew Jarvis, 19, was filmed setting an arrow on fire with a lighter and throwing it at police during trouble outside the Holiday Inn Express in Manvers, Rotherham.
He was sentenced to three years in a young offenders’ institution after pleading guilty to charges of violent disorder.
Kaine Hicks, 22
Hicks admitted hurling abuse at police outside the Holiday Inn Express in Rotherham and pushing against officers’ shields.
He was jailed for two years and eight months.
John Honey, 25
John Honey stole bath bombs when a Lush store was ransacked during rioting in Hull on August 3.
Honey pleaded guilty to violent disorder and three charges of burglary, as well as racially aggravated criminal damage.
He has not yet been sentenced.
Ricky Hardman, 41
Haulage business owner Hardman was photographed squaring up to officers at the Holiday Inn Express in Manvers, Rotherham, on Sunday August 4.
Jailing him for two years and eight months, a judge told him he was part of an “ignorant mob”.
