The McRib – a favourite of fast food fans across the world – could be making its return after years on hiatus.
McDonald’s infamous BBQ sauce-smothered toasted bun was discontinued a short time after being first introduced to customers in 1981.
It was last available to fast food lovers in 2014 in the UK, with fans of the boneless pork sandwich even creating a ‘McRib locator’ to report sightings of the bun.
However, a test notification seemingly disguised as a glitch on the McDonald’s app was sent to customers on Friday, teasing the McRib’s return.
It read “McRib test notification” and ended with the date of October 16, 2024.
The link took users to an error page but many fans believe it was a tease from the fast food outlet.
A McDonalds spokesperson said: “McDonald’s is always looking to innovate with new and exciting menu items, as well as bringing back the fan favourites.
“Stay tuned for more info.”
