Spotify Wrapped has arrived for music streamers, later than in previous years, with a new feature that allows listeners to hear an “AI podcast” of their top songs.
The collaboration of Spotify users’ most listened to songs and albums is an anticipated event each year, with Wrapped normally dropping at the end of November.
In previous years, the music streaming giant has released the data on December 1, 2 and 3 with Wrapped arriving on users’ devices on Wednesday, December 4.
Many were expecting a pop-up on the app as in previous years, however some spotted that the Spotify web player was displaying the data first.
A QR code scanned on Spotify’s Wrapped website can take you directly to your app, if downloaded, and from there a collection of short videos appear.
Spotify has also added a Wrapped tab to the app this year, between All and Music.
Users can see their top songs of 2024, top podcasts and a new feature called ‘Your Wrapped AI podcast’ in which two voices discuss your year in numbers.
A Spotify statement read: “Each year we help fans dive deeper into their Wrapped, and this year we’re debuting a fresh way for them to do just that.
“For the first time ever, Spotify is unveiling Your Spotify Wrapped AI podcast, built with Google’s NotebookLM.
“With this personalized audio overview, fans can immerse themselves in the top songs, artists, and genres that soundtracked their year all delivered using generative AI by two dynamic hosts.
“From uncovering the unique ways you listened on Spotify to exploring the inspiration behind one of your favorite tracks, Your Spotify Wrapped AI podcast brings you even closer to the music that soundtracked your year.”
