A 14-year-old girl has suffered potentially life-changing injures in a suspected acid attack at a school in London.
Police on patrol were flagged down by staff at 4.42pm on Monday on Alfred Road in the west of the city after a substance was allegedly thrown at pupils and a staff member.
Officers responded with paramedics and the London Fire Brigade and found three people injured.
A 14-year-old girl, whose injuries may potentially be life-changing, remains in hospital.
A 16-year-old boy and a 27-year-old woman, whose injuries are not life-threatening or life-changing, were also taken to hospital. The boy’s treatment is ongoing while the woman has been discharged.
Tests of the substance are ongoing, the Metropolitan Police said. At this stage officers believe it to be acidic.
Urgent enquiries are under way to identify and arrest those responsible, the force said.
A number of crime scenes are in place.
Two officers were taken to hospital as a precaution after they reported feeling unwell.
