A chairlift accident at a ski resort in Spain has injured dozens of people – some seriously – according to local media reports.
The incident at the Astún ski resort in Huesca, northeast Spain, reportedly injured around thirty people, nine of whom very seriously and another eight seriously.
Emergency services, including four rescue helicopters and ten ambulances, have been mobilised to help treat casualties, according to the government of Aragon.
It is not currently known what caused the accident.
One eyewitness said he saw people “flying and pirouetting” after a “cable came out”.
A separate eyewitness said: “People started to fall off too because the chairs were bouncing. We all ran as fast as we could and left our skis down. There were boards falling down.”
