Death of girl, 11, ‘unexplained’ after body found in Worcestershire park

The body of an 11-year-old girl has been found in a park in Worcestershire, with police treating the death as unexplained.

The girl was reported missing at around 11.20pm on Sunday, and was later found dead in the park near the cricket ground in Elmley Castle, West Mercia Police said.

Her family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers, the force added.

Police say they are carrying out inquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding the girl’s death, which is being treated as unexplained – and there will be an “increased police presence” in the area while they carry out their investigation.
