Child benefit payments are set to be paid within days after an issue on HMRC’s side left many parents without their monthly payment.
HMRC confirmed there had been an issue on there end that left a number of parents without their payment – with many parents taking to social media to express their concern.
One parent wrote on X, formerly know as Twitter, “We’re heavily reliant on the child benefit payment on a Monday – I’ve got nothing now for food for my child.”
A single parent of three told STV News the issue was “extremely worrying” as the money is needed to pay for school meals as well as transport to and from school.
However, HMRC has since confirmed that those who have been affected by the issue will receive their payment on Wednesday.
An HMRC spokesperson said: “We are very sorry that some customers did not receive their scheduled Child Benefit payments as expected and we understand the concern and difficulty this may have caused.
“We have now fixed the problem and are putting measures in place to prevent this from happening again.
“Affected customers will now receive their payments on Wednesday morning (June 5).
“Anyone who has incurred a direct financial loss because of the delayed payment can apply for redress by completing our online complaints form.”
