Police said a suspect wearing a black balaclava was seen fleeing in a silver car, adding that authorities are deploying “all available resources to locate and arrest those responsible.”

Paul Macintire, Superintendent with the Organised Crime Unit for Toronto Police, said: “Our preliminary investigation reveals that three males entered the pub just before 10:40pm.

“One male was armed with what appears to be an assault rifle. The other two males were armed with handguns, and they walked into the bar.

“They produced their guns, and they opened fire indiscriminately on the people sitting inside the restaurant.”

Toronto’s mayor Olivia Chow said “all necessary resources” are being deployed following the shooting and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.

“I am deeply troubled to hear reports of a shooting at a pub in Scarborough,” she wrote in a post on X. “My thoughts are with the victims and their families.”
