A food and drink wholesaler has recalled one of its products over fears it may contain hydrogen cyanide.

Leo’s Import Export and Trading Ltd issued a “not safe to eat” warning on Buram Nuts in Syrup via the Food Standards Agency on Tuesday.

The recall was issued due to the possible presence of foreign bodies and apricot kernels which releases hydrogen cyanide when consumed.

Customers who purchased Buram Cerezli Nuts in Syrup in size 420g have been advised not to eat the nuts and return them to the point of purchase for a full refund.

The warning covers products with any best before or batch codes.

The note read: “Leo’s Import Export and Trading Ltd is recalling the above product.

“The company has issued a recall notice to its customers.

“These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.”
