The world’s tallest cinema in Glasgow is set to reopen following a £22 million transformation.
Irish chain Omniplex announced it had taken ownership of the building on Renfrew Street, just months after Cineworld was evicted following 20 years of operations.
The building had been operated by Cineworld since its takeover from UGC in 2005.
The company was told in July last year that the landlord intended to take back the site, with the cinema shutting its doors for a final time in September.
The following month, Omniplex announced it would be moving into the building.
Following renovations, the venue will welcome moviegoers back from July 10, with the rest of the refurbishment to be completed by September.
The redevelopment includes upgrades to all 15 screens, fully reclining luxury seats, double recliners and a dedicated screen featuring sofa beds.

The cinema will include fully reclining auditoriums with upgraded laser projection and sound, as well as three giant “OmniplexMAXX” screens featuring Barco 4K Laser projection and Dolby Atmos sound.
Tickets for the reopening will go on sale this weekend, with introductory prices starting at £4.95 from July 10 to July 12.
The first 100 customers will also receive a free XL popcorn.
Omniplex first opened its doors to customers in Ireland in 1991 and has since amassed a total of 382 screens across 47 cinema locations.
Paul John Anderson, director of Omniplex Cinemas, said: “It’s been an honour to give the world’s tallest cinema a new lease of life. With a total investment of £22m, our transformation of Omniplex Renfrew Street brings the very best modern cinema to the city.
“With four OmniplexMAXX screens, including our largest ever featuring Dolby Atmos sound, premium reclining seating and sofa beds, we’re proud to offer an elevated cinema experience for Glasgow audiences.
“We look forward to welcoming guests back and sharing everything Renfrew Street has to offer.”
