A probe into the death of a woman is under way, after police discovered a body at a flat in Ayr.

Officers were called to a property on Nursery Hall, Ayr, at around 10.15am on Monday.

The 41-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, with police that confirming a post mortem examination will take place in due course.

It is currently unknown if there are any suspicious circumstances, and her death is being treated as “unexplained”.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 10.15am on Monday, March 27, police were called to a flat in Nursery Hall, Ayr.

“A 41-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

“A post mortem examination will take place in due course to establish the exact cause of death, however meantime the death is being treated as unexplained.

“Police enquiries are continuing.”
