Woman taken to hospital after being hit by car near Christmas market

An 82-year-old pedestrian was struck down on Glasgow's Ingram Street.

A woman has been rushed to hospital after being struck by a car near Glasgow’s Christmas market.

Emergency services were called to the city’s Ingram Street, near the George Square Christmas market, at around 12.30pm on Wednesday after reports of a car hitting a pedestrian.

An 82-year-old woman was taken to hospital. Her current condition is unknown.

Enquiries into the incident remain ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 12.30pm on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, we were called to a report of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian on Ingram Street, Glasgow.

“Emergency services attended and the pedestrian, an 82-year-old woman, was taken to hospital by ambulance.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”
