A woman was rushed to hospital with “serious” injuries following an attack at a home in East Dunbartonshire.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene in the Townhead area of Kirkintilloch on Thursday night following reports of person being hurt inside the address.

Paramedics delivered initial treatment to the 41-year-old shortly after 11.55pm before transporting her to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where her condition remains serious.

An investigation has since been launched.

Officers have also issued an appeal to trace two teenagers thought to be in the area at the time of the incident.

Both were said to have dark hair, while one was wearing a dark jacket and shorts with a cap and another was wearing a light blue t-shirt.

Investigators have asked anyone with information to come forward immediately ad are particularly interested in hearing from drivers with dashboard-mounted cameras who may have been in the surrounding area at the time.

Detective Inspector Kenneth McDonald said: “A woman sustained serious injuries as a result of this incident and we are asking anyone who may have seen the two men or have any information to get in touch.
 
“Anyone who was driving in the area at the time and may have dash-cam footage that could help with our enquiries is also asked to contact police.”
 
He added: “If you can assist officers then please call us on 101, quoting incident number 4315 of Thursday, July 21, or make a call anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
