A woman has died following a fire that forced properties in Alloa to evacuate.
Emergency services were called to a blaze on Primrose Street at around 5am on Sunday, and a small number of neighbouring properties were evacuated.
One woman was taken to Forth Valley Royal Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
The death is being treated as unexplained at this time and next of kin have been made aware.
Primrose Street and Primrose Place remain closed and officers are working with partners to support a small number of local residents who have been evacuated.
The public are asked to avoid the area at this time.
Detective Inspector Graeme Connolly said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased at this time.
“We are continuing to coordinate with partners in response to the fire and a joint investigation with SFRS to establish the full circumstances will be carried out in due course.”
