A woman has been left seriously injured after being assaulted in an alleged street attack in South Lanarkshire.
The alleged attack occurred around 1.30pm on Wallace Street, Rutherglen on Sunday.
Emergency services attended and a 30-year-old woman was taken to hospital in Glasgow for treatment.
A 36-year-old man has since been arrested and charged in connection with the attack and is due to appear in court on Monday.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “At around 1.25pm on Sunday, officers were made aware of a 30-year-old woman having been seriously assaulted on Wallace Street, Rutherglen.
“She was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital to be treated.
“A 36-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
“Further enquiries remain ongoing.”
