The police watchdog is investigating the death of a woman in Glasgow after she had contact with officers in the hours before she was found dead.
Brodie MacGregor’s body was discovered inside a flat on Elmvale Street in Springburn at around 10.15am on Monday.
Following a post-mortem, Police Scotland launched a murder investigation.
The 23-year-old had been in contact with police in the hours prior to her death, according to the Police Investigations and Review Commissioner (PIRC).
The investigation into Ms MacGregor’s death is now being led by Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service, rather than Police Scotland.
A 52-year-old man has been arrested in connection with Ms MacGregor’s death and is due to appear in court on Friday. However, he has not been charged, STV News understands.
A report was sent to the Crown Office on Thursday night.
The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS) has asked for the circumstances of Ms MacGregor’s death to be investigated by the Police Investigations and Review Commissioner (PIRC).
A spokesperson for the PIRC said: “The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service has instructed PIRC to investigate the circumstances of the death of a 23-year-old woman following police contact, in Glasgow on August 26, 2024.
“At the conclusion of our investigation a report will be sent to COPFS.”
