A woman is fighting for her life in hospital after she was involved in a crash with a BMW in Ayr on Friday afternoon.

Emergency services were called at around 2.15pm to Waggon Road, near to the junction with Peebles Street, after a crash was reported between a blue mobility scooter and a blue BMW 5 series car.

A 65-year-old woman, who was the mobility scooter user, was taken to Crosshouse Hospital where her condition is described as critical.

The car driver was not injured.

Sergeant Chris Hoggans said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstance and we are keen to speak to anyone who saw what happened.

“We are also asking people to check their dash-cam and private CCTV to see if they have captured anything that could help with our investigation.

“Anyone who can assist is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2222 of Friday, May 31, 2024.
