A woman has died in hospital three days after being hit by a car in Ayrshire.
Emergency services were called to the A70 Muirkirk Road near Cumnock around 8.05am on Friday following a crash involving a pedestrian and a white Range Rover Evoque.
The pedestrian, a 66-year-old woman, was airlifted to hospital where she later died.
The woman has been named as Jaqueline Young from Cumnock.
Police say investigations into the crash are ongoing and have appealed for the drivers of a dark-coloured saloon vehicle and a teal-coloured pick-up truck with a cab on the back to come forward.
Sergeant Brian Simpson said: “Our thoughts are with Jaqueline’s family and friends at this tragic time.
“We are carrying out extensive enquiries to establish the full circumstances and we continue to appeal to anyone who witnessed the crash, or has dash-cam footage from the area to please come forward.
“We know that drivers drove through the scene immediately after the crash. We are particularly keen to speak with the drivers of a dark-coloured saloon vehicle and a teal-coloured pick-up truck with a cab on the back. These drivers may have information which could assist with our investigation.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0549 of October 2, 2026.
