Woman dies in hospital after car goes off road in crash

The 38-year-old driver was taken to Inverclyde Royal Hospital after the incident around 11.15pm.

A woman has died after a car left the road in Greenock on Saturday night.

The incident happened in Shankland Road around 11.15pm and involved a grey Ford Fiesta.

The 38-year-old driver was taken to Inverclyde Royal Hospital, where she later died.

Police are appealing for information and have urged anyone with information to get in touch.

Sergeant Roy McCarney of the Road Policing Unit, said: “The woman’s family have been informed and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.

“We are carrying out enquiries and would like to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and who may have witnessed this to contact us.

“I would also appeal to any motorists who were driving in the area and who might have dashcam footage which could assist us to get in touch.”
