A pedestrian has died after being struck by a car in a hit-and-run at a crossing in Glasgow.
The woman was at a crossing island on Castlebank Street, near the entrance of Burger King and Starbucks, around 8.45pm on Tuesday, when she was hit.
The female pedestrian was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead a short time after arrival.
Police are now hunting for a small, black or dark-coloured ‘city car’ model car, which failed to stop at the scene.
Detectives say enquiries are ongoing to identify and trace the vehicle.
The road remains closed, and drivers are asked to avoid the area.
Sergeant Stewart Taylor, of the Police Scotland Roads Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the friends and family of the young woman who has died in this incident.
“Our enquiries to establish the full circumstances and identify the car and driver involved are ongoing.
“We would urge anyone who may have seen anything or may have CCTV, dashcam or mobile phone footage from the area to get in touch.
“The vehicle involved is described as being a small, dark coloured ‘city car’ model which was travelling west on Castlebank Street at the time of the collision.
“Anyone with information can call 101, quoting reference 3039 of December 2, 2025.”
