A woman has died after being struck by a pick-up truck in West Dunbartonshire.
Officers were called to Dumbarton Road in Clydebank between the junctions of Hawick Street and Mill Road around 5.40pm on Thursday following reports of a collision involving a blue Volkswagen Amarok and a female pedestrian.
The 56-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene on the westbound carriageway of Dumbarton Road.
The occupants of the pick-up truck were not injured.
The road was closed while investigations were carried out and fully reopened around 10pm.
Police said enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the collision and officers are appealing for witnesses.
They are especially keen to speak to the driver of a silver van or minibus which was travelling eastbound prior to the collision.
Road Policing Sergeant Adnan Alam said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman who died.
“We’re offering them support and will continue to do so as our investigations progress.
“I’d like to thank everyone who has come forward with information so far.
“We know there was a silver-coloured van or minibus travelling eastbound just before the collision and I’m keen to speak to that driver as they may have vital information.
“Anyone with dashcam footage of Dumbarton Road around the time is also asked to review this and bring anything of significance to our attention.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference 2867 of November 7, 2024.
A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 5.35pm on Thursday to attend an incident in Clydebank.
“We dispatched one ambulance, a paramedic response unit and our trauma team to the scene.”
