A woman has died following a two-car crash in South Lanarkshire which also left a man in hospital.
Emergency crews were called to the collision, which involved a red Corsa and a white Polo, on the A70 Ayr Road near Rigside around 12.30pm on Saturday.
The 42-year-old female driver of the red Corsa was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where she died on Sunday, August 6.
She has been named as Tamara Jones.
The 54-year-old male driver of the white Polo was taken to Wishaw General Hospital for treatment. His condition is currently unknown.
Police sergeant Gemma Blackadder for the Road Policing Unit said: “Our thoughts are with Tamara’s family and friends.
“Our inquiries are continuing into the crash are continuing. I would ask anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or who may have dash-cam footage, and has not yet spoken to or provided this information to officers, to contact us as soon as possible.
“The road was closed for approximately six hours to allow investigations to be carried out.
“I want to thank members of the public for their patience while we investigated this serious collision.”
