A woman has been arrested, and seven people have received treatment following a fire at a block of flats in Airdrie on Tuesday.

Emergency services were called to the building on Crowhill Crescent following reports of a blaze at around 12.50pm.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service extinguished the blaze, and seven people were taken into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service.

Officers arrested a 56-year-old woman in connection. An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 12.50pm on Tuesday, January 27, we received a report of a fire at a property on Crowhill Crescent in Airdrie.

“Emergency services attended and the fire was put out by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

“Seven people were treated by the Scottish Ambulance Service at the scene.

“A 56-year-old woman was arrested in connection and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
