A woman has died after she was struck by a vehicle in Dumfries and Galloway on Monday.
Emergency services were called to the Laurel Bank Terrace area of Castle Douglas around 6.50pm following reports of a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.
A 90-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
The road was closed for a number of hours and investigations into the incident are ongoing.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6.50pm on Monday, August 25, 2025, we were called to a report of a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in the Laurel Bank Terrace area of Castle Douglas.
“Emergency services attended, however, the pedestrian, a 90-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The road was closed for a number of hours to allow investigations to be carried out. Enquiries to establish the full circumstances of the crash remain ongoing.”
