An elderly woman has been left seriously injured after being struck by a car in Johnstone.

Emergency services were called to High Street at around 4.50pm on Monday following reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and vehicle.

The 87-year-old woman was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigations into the crash are ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of a crash involving a car and a pedestrian on High Street, Johnstone, around 4.50pm on Monday, December 2, 2024.

“Emergency services attended, and the 87-year-old woman was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
