A woman has died and an elderly man is fighting for his life in hospital after a car crashed into a wall in Paisley.

The crash took place on Corsebar Road around 12.30pm on Tuesday and involved a silver Kia Ceed which left the road and collided with a wall.

Emergency services attended and a 76-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the car, a 78-year-old man, was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

Sergeant Ally Wright said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman involved.

“Our investigation to establish the full circumstances is ongoing and I would urge anyone with information, or who may have dash-cam footage from the area, to get in touch.”
