A woman has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after being struck by an SUV on the A70.
Emergency services were called to Muirkirk Road near Cumnock shortly after 8am on Friday, after a 65-year-old female pedestrian was struck by a white Range Rover Evoque.
The woman was airlifted to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with serious injuries.
No other injuries were reported.
The road was closed while investigations were carried out, and later reopened at 2.15pm.
Sergeant Brian Simpson said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances, and I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash and has yet to speak to officers to come forward.
“We know that motorists drove through the scene immediately after the crash and we would be keen to speak with them to review any dash-cam footage to see if it has captured anything that could assist with our investigation.”
