Woman, 35, pronounced dead at scene after Mini Cooper crash

Officers closed the road between Cornerhouse and Drummore, near Ardwell, for several hours after the crash on the A716.

A woman has died in a crash involving a white Mini Cooper in Dumfries and Galloway.

The 35-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene after emergency crews rushed to reports of the incident on the A716 between Cornerhouse and Drummore.

The road was closed for several hours after the crash at around 8.30pm on Friday, October 20 while an initial investigation was carried out.

Police Scotland said the woman’s family and next of kin had been informed.

Sergeant David Kerr said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the woman who died and our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

“Anyone who what happened or who has dash-cam footage that could help with our investigation is asked to get in touch.

“In particular we are keen to speak to anyone who may have been travelling on the A716 in the time leading up to the crash happening. Please contact us if you have footage or any other information.”
