A 14-turbine wind farm will be built at Cumberhead forest in South Lanarkshire.
The renewable energy site, near Coalburn, will see a dozen 150-metre tall turbines and two of 180 metres installed over the next two years.
It was given planning permission following a council meeting earlier this week.
Objections had been raised from Glasgow Airport and National Air Traffic Services (NATS).
However, the meeting was told that measures to limit the impact on air transport had been included.
Concerns were also raised over the “visual impact” on the surrounding area.
However, council planner James Wright said with the nearest village more than a mile away, it was “remote” enough.
