Police have launched a manhunt after two thieves assaulted and robbed a man during an attack in West Dunbartonshire.

The 23-year-old was targeted by the pair at 5.50pm in the Jamestown area of Alexandria on Thursday.

The robbers stole the victim’s cash and personal possessions on a pathway known locally as the Rickety Moss between Auchencarroch Road and Arthurston Road.

The suspects have been described as white men, both in their mid to late-20s. One was spotted wearing a white t-shirt with grey joggers, while the other wore a white t-shirt with black joggers.

Police believe they ran in the direction of Arthurston Road, into the Haldane area after committing the crime.

“The ‘Rickety Moss’ area is known to be used by local dog walkers and I am appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and witnessed anything suspicious, or potentially saw anyone matching the descriptions of the suspects, to please come forward.

“I am also keen to speak with anyone who lives nearby and may have potential private CCTV of the area.

“Anyone with information is urged to contact police on 101, quoting incident 3333 of June 2, 2022.

“Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, if you wish to remain anonymous.”
