An airline has launched its inaugural transatlantic flight from Glasgow on the largest passenger aircraft in the world.
Global Airlines launched its inaugural flight on Thursday, departing from Glasgow Airport to New York’s JFK Airport shortly after 11am.
The aircraft was an Airbus A380 – the largest passenger aircraft in the world.

Emirates also reintroduced the Airbus A380 on its daily Glasgow-Dubai route in 2023.
The return flight is due to arrive in Glasgow on Monday.
The A380 aircraft was stored in Prestwick for several months after it arrived in Scotland in May last year.
Economy tickets on the flight were reduced prior to departure, with a return fare costing around £380.
The aircraft also includes a ‘sky pub’.
The airline, founded by 36-year-old British entrepreneur James Asquith, wants to “revolutionise” air travel between the UK and the US.
Glasgow Airport said on social media: “We were pleased to support Global Airlines today on their first transatlantic flight to New York.
“The flight operated on the iconic Airbus A380, and we wish the new airline all the best for the future.”
