A walker was rescued after slipping between summits and sustaining an injury in Dumfries and Galloway.
Moffat Mountain Rescue Team was alerted to the incident by police around 1.30pm on Monday and asked to assist in the rescue on Criffel near New Abbey.
The rescue team confirmed in a post on their Facebook page that the walker had “sustained a suspected broken ankle” after slipping between the summits of Knockendoch and Criffel.
Eleven members of the rescue team rushed to the callout, while Galloway Mountain Rescue Team also sent ten members out to help carry out a safe evacuation due to the casualty’s location.
The team, including a paramedic from Moffat MRT, proceeded up the hill to carry out a casualty initial assessment followed by additional team members carrying medical equipment, a casualty bag, stretcher, stretcher wheel and rope up to the casualty’s location.
The Moffat Mountain Rescue Team confirmed that the casualty was given pain relief and their ankle supported in a vacuum splint.
The casualty was packaged into a casualty bag and stretcher before being safely carried from the hillside.
The party walked off the hill where the casualty was handed over to the waiting Scottish Ambulance Service crew for ongoing treatment and further assessment at hospital.
Scottish Ambulance Service has been contacted for comment.
